Waking Up in Prison

By: Joseph Green

As always, I give praise to my creator for allowing me another day to make a difference in the lives of others. I hope that my words bring inspiration and hope to anyone reading this.

As I do most mornings I read then write. This morning I read about the importance of being a person of service to others. I started this blog to give those incarcerated a voice beyond these prison walls. To give them something positive to do and to show their families and friends that they are doing something positive with their time.

I have faced much adversity in doing this project but I refuse to stop or give up. Napoleon Hill said this,” IF YOU HAVE TRIED AND MET WITH DEFEAT; IF YOU HAVE PLANNED AND WATCHED YOUR PLANS AS THEY WERE CRUSHED BEFORE YOUR EYES; JUST REMEMBER THAT THE GREATEST MEN IN ALL HISTORY WERE THE PRODUCTS OF COURAGE, AND COURAGE, YOU KNOW, IS BORN IN THE CRADLE OF ADVERSITY”.

We will always face some form of adversity. However, the courage gained in the midst of adversity will fortify the man within. We begin to cultivate those positive innate qualities. We know not how strong we truly are until being strong is all we have left. Some guys don’t know the power they possess within. This is why having a knowledge of self is so important. Once we know who we are and where we descend from, we will begin to move in a way that’s in accordance to our nature. People who undergo a change while in prison has some of the most powerful testimonies. They can change lives by sharing their stories of courage and strength in the midst of adversity.

Today is going to be positive and productive. I am a King. I am a leader. I am a man of faith. Gratitude is my attitude. Now I have to go to this yard and work out. Then take my dog on a walk. Yeah, I got a dog in prison… don’t judge me! THIS IS WAKING UP IN PRISON! Stay tuned for more……T.B.T.W.
